About the CERCLA Administrative Records and Post Decisions Files

The Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS) is designated as a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liabilities Act (CERCLA) site for response actions.  CERCLA is an agreement established between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) and is called the Director's Final Findings and Orders for Removal Action and Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study and Remedial Design and Remedial Action, including the July 16, 2012 Modification thereto (DFF&O).

Under CERCLA, the lead agency, DOE, must compile all documents considered or relied on to make a cleanup decision before the decision is made. After the public comment period and a decision is made, this collection of documents becomes the Administrative Record (AR). Any documents added after the decision document is signed go into the Post Decision File (PDF).
